The 3rd Wave of COVID Continues

As we mentioned in our last update, Thailand is currently experiencing a resurgence of COVID. The past month or so has been challenging for us on many fronts. We want to say a huge thank you to those who gave since our last update, either through finances or through giving of their time to us in prayer or other ways. It is truly an encouragement to us!

Initially, we thought the 3rd wave of COVID might pitter out and result in little to nothing, but it seemed almost as soon as the schools reopened and things returned to a bit of normalcy that the wave began to peak. We are now experiencing 9,000-10,000 new cases of COVID a day. The government restrictions are tightening again. Unemployment is rising. Schools are banished to the realm of teaching online for the unforeseeable future (many are saying for at least a quarter, perhaps for the rest of the calendar year). Some people are wanting even more lockdowns to seek to tamper the wave. Fear is encroaching on hearts.

But we know our God is the Way Maker (does anyone else LOVE that song?), the God of all hope and the source of our peace. As it says in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

We know a key to finding the joy and peace that is available in God is to trust in Him, and hide ourselves in Him. As it says in Psalm 27:4-5:

“One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.”

Truly, with our God, even in the most trying of times, we have nothing to fear. We have felt led by the Lord to commit the month of July to the Lord, seeking Him in fasting, prayer and worship. We are joining in worship and prayer daily with a small group from our church. We want to be found among those whose hearts say, “Your face Oh Lord, I will seek” (Psalm 27:8).

We humbly ask you to join with us in prayer. Please pray for Thailand, pray for the church in Thailand, for our church community, the school and our family.
