At the beginning of the month of May, I (Amy) recently had an opportunity to meet up with one of the ladyboys I had mentored when I had lived in Pattaya in 2010. May is now living in Cambodia, his home country, so it truly was an unexpected treat when he reached out to let me know he was in Bangkok and would love to meet up.
May is doing well- loving Jesus deeply and doing hair out of his house. We had three short hours together in which we talked, prayed and walked to a bookstore to buy a Joyce Meyer book that he wanted to help him in his spiritual growth. It was so wonderful and beautiful to see God at work in his life and heart and such a beautiful reminder of how faithful the Lord is to pursue, to woo, to protect.
There were tears on both sides as May shared how I was the first person in his life to disciple him, to show him how to live life with Jesus, and how to truly love God. And I shared with him how blessed I was to have been that person because I encountered more of the Father’s love through seeing the Father love him. We hope to be able to connect again the next time May visits Bangkok, which as it turns out is going to be a two-month visit while he is going to beauty school. We are believing for Amy and May to be able to connect well during this time and have opportunities for Amy to speak into May’s life and encourage his walk with the Lord.
